The Forest of Dean is our newest coverage area. We’ve just taken it on, so businesses across the Forest can now have the same overnight gritting and snow clearance service we’ve run across the rest of Gloucestershire, Swindon and Worcester.

A different kind of patch

The Forest is hilly, wooded and often isolated, with narrow roads, steep gradients and sites that are a long way from the nearest main road. Its highest point, Ruardean Hill, reaches 290 metres, so exposed sites can freeze while the Severn Vale below stays clear. Shaded stretches under trees and low-lying spots can also hold ice for longer than you’d expect. A gritting plan that treats every site as if it had the same weather doesn’t work here, and it helps when the person doing the round knows the roads.

A local person, a local round

Your round is looked after by someone who has worked with us before and lives close to both the Forest and our depot north of Gloucester. They know the roads and can reach their kit quickly, and fewer miles driven helps keep the service economical for you as well as local.

Our kit

We use Vale TS1700 salt spreaders towed by tough 4×4s, which can cope with hilly, awkward sites. For tighter spots and pedestrian areas we use hand spreaders, and we can arrange snow clearance too.

What we offer in the Forest of Dean

Overnight commercial gritting (6pm–6am, triggered by postcode-level Met Office forecasting), so your site is treated before people arrive. We clear snow within two hours of being alerted, working through sites in priority order, and we hand-grit pedestrian areas vehicles can’t reach. Our white marine salt doesn’t leave a gritty residue to be walked indoors. There’s no retaining charge: you’re quoted a per-visit, fixed, or mixed cost from a marked-up site map, without needing a site visit first. Every visit is reported through an app, with photos, times on and off site and notes on any access problems, and you can see those reports yourself.
